Regatta Report T37 Class 2025 Northwest Regional Championship - April 19, 2025 The Quimper Peninsula/Port Ludlow T37 fleet and the Port Madison Yacht Club in Bainbridge hosted the T37 Class Northwest Regional Championship on April 19, 2025. The event was originally scheduled to be held at the Port Ludlow venue. Unfortunately, the host pond experienced a seasonal infestation of floating clumps of algae prior to the scheduled date. Regatta chairman Andy Parker wisely enlisted the help of the Port Madison Yacht Club to move the event to the scenic Port Madison inlet location on Bainbridge Island. On the day of the event, after relocating several full-sized yachts from the control area dock, a windward/leeward course was set with a mid-leg start line. All races were two times around. A light (0-5 knots) wind challenged the 14 competitors. Four races were held in the morning session and after a lunch break another five races were completed before the 4 PM deadline. Principal Race Officer Erin Parker timed the starts to take advantage of the varying wind and added a gate to prevent congestion at the leeward mark. Shifts and lulls mixed the results. Also, low tide in the middle of the day caused seaweed to slow some competitors and thus justify the one discard for every four races. The top three finishers were awarded trophies hand crafted by Andy Parker, and Erin Parker presented the matching PRO award to Frank Blanchard for his Corinthian spirit. Special thanks to Andy Parker for coordinating the event and to his supporting regatta committee of Erin Parker, Paul Erb, Tom Condon, Soozie Darrow and others.
